About Communicare

Communicare has served as Northern Central Mississippi’s community mental health center since 1969, providing quality, individualized care to Calhoun, Lafayette, Marshall, Panola, Tate and Yalobusha counties. We deliver caring, professional assistance to people of all ages seeking mental health treatment, substance abuse treatment, school-based services, IDD services and 24hr crisis services.

At all of our locations, we’re equipped and ready to provide clinical services that meet the needs of each individual. We offer multiple treatment options for co-occurring disorders (i.e., substance use disorders and mental health disorders) that are certified through the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, including our residential treatment facility, Haven House. Our agency strives to provide access to care that is both exceptional and affordable for all persons.

For noninsured individuals, services are offered on a sliding fee scale to those under 200% of the poverty level threshold. Communicare will not turn any individual away, regardless of their ability to pay for services.

Evidence-based Practices Used

EMDR

Eye Movement Desisitization and Reprocessing therapy is an evidence-based treatment modality to treat PTSD and other types of traumatic symptoms to include nightmares, hypervigilance, and anxiety. EMDR has also shown success with management of cravings for individuals with substance use disorder.

ART

Accelerated Resolution Therapy is an evidence-based treatment modality for PTSD and other types of traumatic symptoms. In addition, there is a plethora of evidence showing promising results for a multitude of mental health symptoms such as depression and anxiety.

DBT

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is loosely a form of CBT but is used in individuals that have intense emotions.

CBT

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the go-to for most therapists and clients. By teaching you to focus on your own thoughts, feelings, and core beliefs, CBT teaches you coping skills for the symptoms you are experiencing.

CPT

Cogintiive Process Therapy is a type of CBT that is used specifically for PTSD related symptoms.

MI

Motivational Interviewing is an evidence-based counseling method used to help individuals resolve their own problems by talking through their feelings and insecurities and realizing what their ultimate goal may be.
